A) Las Palmas
This is the capital city of Gran Canaria in the north eastern part of the island. The key tourist attractions here are located in the neighbourhood of Vegueta and Triana. The main places to cover in a day are:
Casa de Colon: This architectural complex is known for hosting Christopher Columbus in 1492 when he made a temporary stop on Canary Islands during his voyage to America. It also has a museum with several beautiful paintings and exhibitions on the evolution of Las Palmas over time. You will need to pay a small fee (~4 EUR) to visit the building complex.
Santa Ana Cathedral: This beautiful cathedral is located next to the Plaza Mayor of Santa Ana and is within walking distance from Casa de Colon. You can visit the cathedral for a small fee and also go to the top for unhindered views of the ocean and the city.
Perez Galdoz museum: Don't forget to visit the residence of renowned Spanish writer Benito Perez Galdoz who was born here and stayed in this house till he was 19 years old.

B) Puerto de Mogan
Puerto de Mogan is a quaint port town on the south west coast of the island. It's ideal for spending a relaxing day by the beach and casually strolling along the pretty alleys near the port. There is also a viewpoint nearby which boasts of fantastic views of the ocean and the port. However, you need to climb almost 250-300 steps to reach the top!!Â

C) Maspalomas
Maspalomas is a lively resort area on the south coast of the island known for the vast sand dunes and its famous landmark, the Maspalomas Lighthouse. It also has lovely beaches and a long promenade lined with restaurants and shops. Also, goes without saying that you can't miss the beautiful sunsets over the vast ocean- it's an absolutely surreal experience 🙂
Faro de Maspalomas: This famous landmark of Maspalomas is situated at one end of the Maspalomas beach and next to the Maspalomas Dunes.Â
Maspalomas Dunes: This vast area of sand dunes stretches from Faro de Maspalomas to Playa del Ingles along the ocean creating a unique landscape in this island. If you want to spend some quality time with yourself, take a walk along these dunes and at one point you will see nothing except a mini desert and the blue ocean! But be careful and don't get lost!Â

Weather: Weather is mostly temperate, so pack your clothes accordingly. Also dont forget to carry your hat, sunglasses and lots of sunscreen!
Base location: Pick a suitable base from where you can travel to different parts of the island. There is no right or wrong- I stayed in Maspalomas and thoroughly enjoyed the vibe of the place and its lovely beaches.Â
